XPeng have announced a reveal of their new EV (Electronic Vehicle) model the G9. It will be officially unveiled on September 21st and is the fourth model from the Chinese company. XPeng stated that they had thousands of orders within the first 24 hours of announcing it.
The car is built on the 800V SiC platform with XPeng’s proprietary fast charging system that uses the S4 charger. This 480kW charger provides 200 km range worth of power in just 5 mins. The car is using Nvidia’s DRIVE Orin chip for its autonomous and infotainment systems which delivers a 5D experience. The G9 will be Xpeng’s first model equipped with Xpilot 4.0, the company’s advanced driver-assistance system, or ADAS.
Market researchers expect the car to be priced around $50,000 to $57,000. The G9 will be competing with Nio ES7, Tesla Model Y, and Li L9 which are classed as high-end electric cars in China.
With 100,000 sales of the company’s other flagship vehicles previously in 2021. XPeng are expecting the G9 to exceed this number by almost 30% after the keen interest pre launch.
XPeng are a Chinese Smart EV company that designs develops manufactures and markets electronic vehicles. Founded in 2015 in Guangzhou by 3 partners with previous experience as executives at established Chinese car maker GAC Group and e-commerce giant Alibaba.
XPeng is publicly listed on both the NYSE and the Hong Kong stock exchanges and their current market capitalisation is $US 31.83 billion.
